- OFF-STREET PARKING

Sec. 18-73.- Off-street parking required.

(a)

Off-street parking is necessary for every building erected after passage of the ordinance.

(b)

If present buildings are enlarged or occupancy changed, off-street parking will be required.

(c)

Discontinuance of present off-street parking is prohibited unless alternative parking facilities are provided.

(d)

Location, character and size.

(1)

Location: On same lot, or within three hundred (300) feet of the lot that parking is intended to serve.

(2)

Stall space: Ten (10) feet in width and eighteen (18) feet in length.

(3)

Surface: A hard, dustless, and impervious material of asphaltic cement, concrete or interlocking brick pavers. The area shall be designed and constructed in accordance with the FDOT and the FDEP specifications with proper drainage and appropriate permits that are required. Must be designed with regard to pedestrian and precluding excessive glare.

Plan: Must be provided with every application for building permit.

(5)

Joint use: Combined or collective facilities are allowed, but total spaces shall not be less than the sum of the requirements of separate uses.

Sec. 18-74. - Parking requirements.

(a)

Restaurants, bars, clubs, nightclubs: One (1) parking space for each four (4) seats in the room for customer service.

(b)

Retail stores, personal service shops, household repair or equipment shops, interior decoration shops: One (1) parking space for each three hundred (300) square feet of floor area.

(c)

Manufacturing and industrial uses, research and testing laboratories, bottling establishments, printing and engraving shops, warehouses, motor vehicle show and salesrooms, wholesale stores, laundries and storage buildings: One (1) parking space for each six hundred (600) square feet of floor area of the buildings.

(d)

Uses not specifically mentioned: The requirements for off-street parking for any uses not specifically mentioned in this section shall be the same as provided in this section for the use most similar to the ones sought, it being the intent to require all uses to provide off-street parking.

(e)

Dwelling, single-family: One (1) parking space for each dwelling unit.

(f)

Dwelling, multifamily: One (1) parking space for each dwelling unit.

(g)

Motels, tourist homes, guest cabins, house courts: One (1) parking space for each guest room, cabin or rental unit, plus one (1) parking space for the owner or manager.

(h)

Medical, dental, chiropractic, etc., clinics (separate buildings): Four (4) parking spaces for each doctor.

(i)

Business, professional and governmental offices: One (1) parking space for each four hundred (400) square feet of floor area.

The planning department shall make the initial interpretation when a permit is requested.

Appeal of the decision shall be to the zoning board of appeals.

Sec. 18-75. - Parking of commercial vehicles.

Off-street parking facilities supplied by the owner or operator to meet the requirements of this chapter shall not be used by commercial vehicles over one and one-half (1½) tons owned, operated or used in the business of such owner or operator during regular hours of business.

Sec. 18-76. - Vehicular driveways.

The size and design of entrances and exits for vehicles shall conform to state and local requirements.
