This title may be known and cited as the City of Ferndale comprehensive zoning ordinance, which shall also be known as the Ferndale zoning ordinance. (Ord. 1969 § 2 (Exh. 3), 2016; Ord. 1400 § 2, 2006)

This title is adopted pursuant to state law, including statutory provisions relating to planning and zoning in code cities, Chapter 35A.63 RCW, Planning and Zoning in Code Cities. (Ord. 1969 § 2 (Exh. 3), 2016; Ord. 1400 § 2, 2006)

It is the purpose of this title to promote the public health, safety and general welfare by dividing the municipality into appropriate zones within which specific standards, requirements and conditions may be provided for regulating the use of public and private land, buildings and structures, and the location, height, bulk, number of stories and size of buildings and structures, and the size of yards, courts, open spaces, density of population, ratio of land area to the area of buildings and structures, setbacks, area required for off-street parking, and such other standards, requirements, regulations and procedures as are appropriately related thereto.
