The overall purpose of this chapter is to promote the health, safety, and general welfare by regulating the density of population, and the location, intensity and use of buildings, structures and land. Further purposes of this chapter are to implement the goals and policies of the Town of Inlet Comprehensive Master Plan as most recently adopted and/or amended.

This chapter shall replace and supersede the prior existing Chapter 160, Zoning, of the Code of the Town of Inlet, and any amendments thereto. However, any complete application for site plan approval or for a special use permit submitted to the board with jurisdiction over that application prior to the effective date of this Zoning Law will be reviewed and determined under the standards in effect immediately prior to the effective date.

Whenever the requirements of this chapter are at variance with the requirements of any lawfully adopted rules, regulations, law or statutes, the most restrictive or those imposing the higher standard shall govern.

Should any section of or provision of this chapter be decided by a court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or otherwise invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of this chapter as a whole or any part thereof other than the part so decided to be unconstitutional or invalid.
