ARTICLE I

Short Title, Purpose and Community Development Objectives

§ 198-1 Short title.

This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Jefferson Borough Zoning Ordinance."

§ 198-2 Purpose.

The purpose of this chapter is to promote and protect the harmonious development of the Borough by facilitating:
A. 
The public health, safety and general welfare.[1]

B. 
The orderly and efficient integration of land development within the Borough.
C. 
Proper density of population.
D. 
Adequate water and sewerage.
E. 
Adequate police protection, fire protection, schools, parks and other public grounds and buildings.
F. 
The protection of water resources and drainageways.
G. 
Adequate light and air.
H. 
Adequate transportation, parking and loading space.
I. 
The greater health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the Borough.
J. 
Adequate sites for recreation, conservation and open space.
K. 
The prevention of blight and overcrowding of land.

§ 198-3 Community development objectives.

This chapter is enacted as part of the overall plan for the orderly growth and development of Jefferson Borough. As such, this chapter is based upon the expressed or implied community development objectives as contained in the Jefferson Borough Comprehensive Plan.
