The intent of this Article in establishing a Medium Density Residence District is to protect those residential areas of Lanark that were developed in most part prior to World War II, from encroachment from potential conflicting uses, and to provide for future residential and related development and redevelopment consistent with proper existing development and with minimum standards for the provision of health, light, air and visual appeal.

   It shall be unlawful to use or permit the use of any building or premises within the City and within the area one and one-half (1 1/2) miles beyond its corporate limits for any purpose other than as listed below. (1982 Code)
