COMMUNICATIONS & CELL TOWERS

§ 6.01 HEIGHT.

a) 
Type 1 and Type 2 Commercial Communications Towers shall meet the following maximum height requirements:
1) 
In the A, GP, CR, C, LI, MI, and HI zoning districts, a communications tower shall not exceed the maximum height as required in the Area Requirements.
2) 
In the CBD, a communications tower shall not exceed a height greater than that equal to the main structure on the lot for which the said tower is proposed or located.
b) 
Height Exception:
1) 
Communications towers may exceed the maximum height requirement by providing an additional 2 feet of front yard, rear yard, and side yard setback for each 1 foot above the maximum height requirement.
c) 
Distance Requirements
1) 
Front Yard:
A communications mount or communications tower shall comply with the front yard setbacks as required in the Area Requirements for the zoning district in which it is proposed or located.
2) 
Side and Rear Yard:
A communications mount or communications tower shall comply with the minimum side yard and rear yard setbacks as required in the Area Requirements for the zoning district in which it is proposed or located. Guy wires are permitted in the required side and rear yards; however, the anchor point of any guy wire shall not be located closer that 5 feet to a side or rear property line.
d) 
Communication mounts and communication towers must be installed as per the manufacturer’s recommendations or under the seal of a registered professional engineer of the State of Texas and shall be inspected and approved by the Building Official.
