Sec. 1.65. - Sign regulations in all districts.

A.

The size of a sign, for purposes of this ordinance, shall be measured from the outside dimensions of the sign and frame. A sign may have one or more display faces, unless otherwise specified.

B.

A temporary sign pertaining to the lease, rental, or sale of the premises or structure located thereon is permitted when located on such premises or structure. Such signs are subject to the lighting restrictions of the district in which they are located, and may not exceed 12 square feet in area in any residential district.

C.

One freestanding sign announcing or describing a legally approved subdivision or development may be temporarily built on such property. It may not exceed 300 square feet in area, and is subject to the lighting restrictions of the district in which located.

D.

One illuminated or nonilluminated sign per church, not more than 16 square feet in area on church premises, indicating activities and services therein provided.

E.

One nonilluminated sign per building, not more than 16 square feet in area, showing names of architects, engineers, builders, or contractors, on the premises of a building being constructed, provided such sign shall be removed upon completion of the building.

F.

As a special exception, the board may permit such modification of the requirements of this section of the ordinance, according to the powers of the board as specified in this ordinance, as may be found necessary to avoid inconvenience arising because of the location of existing structures or of topography. In no case may the board authorize a private sign on or over public property.
