- ZONING COMMISSION
There is hereby created a zoning commission, whose function it shall be to recommend the boundaries of the various original districts as well as the restrictions and regulations to be enforced therein, and any supplements, changes or modifications thereof. Before making any recommendation to the city council, the zoning commission shall hold a public hearing; and notice of the time and place of the hearing shall be published in accordance with R.S. 33:4726, and as otherwise provided by law.

The zoning commission shall consist of five members, all to be appointed by the city council, who may remove any member of the commission, after public hearing, for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office.

(a)
Each member of the zoning commission shall serve without compensation, shall hold no other public office, and shall be a resident of the City of Scott during his or her entire term of office.
(b)
The city council shall establish staggered initial terms of office of the first members of the zoning commission. Such terms shall be no less than four years and no more than ten years in length. The successors of the members of the zoning commission shall be appointed for terms of four years from and after expiration of the terms of their predecessors in office.

If a vacancy occurs otherwise than by an expiration of term, it shall be filled by appointment of the city council for the unexpired term.

The zoning commission shall adopt rules for transaction of business and shall keep a record of its resolutions, transactions, findings, and determinations, which record shall be a public record.
