Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this article or fail to comply therewith or with any of the requirements thereof, or who shall build or alter any building or engage in any use in violation of any provision hereof or of any site plan or other detailed statement submitted and approved hereunder, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction in the Municipal Court of the city shall be liable to a fine of not more than $2,000.00 for each offense, and each day such violation shall continue shall be deemed to constitute a separate offense. The owner or owners of any building or premises or part thereof, where anything in violation of this article shall be placed or shall exist, and any architect, builder, contractor, agent, person or corporation employed in connection therewith and having charge of the premises or who may have assisted in the commission of any such violation, shall be guilty of a separate offense and upon conviction shall be fined as herein provided.
If a building or other structure is erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, repaired, converted, or maintained, or if a building, other structure, or land is used in violation of this article, the city council, in addition to other remedies, may institute appropriate action to:
(1) Prevent the unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, conversion, maintenance, or use;
(2) Restrain, correct, or abate the violation;
(3) Prevent the occupancy of the building, structure, or land; or
(4) Prevent any illegal act, conduct, business, or use on or about the premises.
