Awning signs |
Banners - shall only be allowed by permit to advertise a special event or sale Banners may only be displayed 15 days prior to the event or sale and must be removed no later than five working days following the event or sale. |
Billboard signs - any freestanding sign exceeding 64 square feet in display area and 20 feet in height requires a special use permit. |
Construction signs. One illuminating sign of up to 40 square feet identifying the owner's name and the activity for which the building is intended and describing the construction process, but not including the advertisement of any product. Such signs shall be located on the site of the construction work and must be removed within 14 days after the beginning of the intended activity. |
Directional or informational signs - may be freestanding or dimensional. They may not exceed 3 1/2 square feet of display surface. |
Flat or dimensional surface signs - are mounted parallel or flat to the wall of the building and mounted nine feet above grade. May not exceed one times the width of the building or occupant space. |
Freestanding signs - a sign not part of, or attached to, any building. Not to exceed 64 square feet in display area, or 128 feet in total area, and not more than 20 feet in height. |
Lighted signs - where signs are illuminated, the light source must be located or shielded in such a way that the glare does not reach the street or adjacent property. |
Portable street signs - single or double surface, temporary ground mounted or wheeled: shall not exceed four feet by eight feet in display or more than 64 square feet total area; and may not be displayed for area more than 30 days. They must be located as to not obstruct the view of the roadway for vehicles using the road, or vehicles using drives. Portable street signs are limited to not more than two signs per site. If lighted, the power source must be within 10 feet and transmitted by a ground cord of sufficient construction to carry the imposed electrical load and be approved for this use by a testing label. |
Projecting signs - project at an angle to the building surface. They may be flat or three-dimensional, but must be located nine feet above grade, shall not exceed one times the building width or occupant space, and shall not project over the public way. |
Window signs - may be applied to the glass or displayed in the glass area, but shall not cover or obscure more than 25% of the glass area, excluding announcements of forthcoming community events. |
