ARTICLE IV

Establishment of Districts

§ 440-4 Number and types of zoning districts.

For the purpose of carrying out the provision of this chapter the Borough of Whitaker is hereby divided into four zoning districts. These districts shall be known as:

§ 440-5 Location of districts.

Said districts are located and bounded as shown on a map entitled "Zoning Map of the Borough of Whitaker, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania," dated March 11, 1993, and on file in the office of the Borough Secretary. The Zoning Map, with all explanatory matter thereon, is hereby made a part of this chapter.[1]

§ 440-6 Interpretation of district boundaries.

Where uncertainty exists with respect to the boundaries of any of the aforesaid districts or shown on Zoning Map, the following shall apply:
A. 
Boundaries indicated as approximately following the center lines of streets, highways, or alleys shall be construed to follow such center lines;
B. 
Boundaries indicated as approximately following platted lot lines shall be construed as following such lot lines;
C. 
Boundaries indicated as approximately following Borough limits shall be construed as following Borough limits;
D. 
Boundaries indicated as following railroad lines shall be construed to be midway between the main tracks;
E. 
Boundaries indicated as following shore lines shall be construed to follow such shorelines, and in the event of change in the shoreline shall be construed as moving with the actual shoreline; boundaries indicated as approximately following the center lines of streams, rivers, canals, lakes, or other bodies of water shall be construed to follow such center lines;
F. 
Boundaries indicated as parallel to or extension of features indicated in Subsections A through E above shall be so construed; distances not specifically indicated on the Official Zoning Map shall be determined by the scale of the map;
G. 
Where physical or cultural features existing on the ground are at variance with those shown on the Official Zoning Map, or in other circumstances not covered by Subsection A through F above, the Zoning Hearing Board shall interpret the district boundaries.
