This chapter establishes for Amador City water efficient landscape design and irrigation guidelines. This chapter is applicable to installation of new landscaping.

The state of California through Assembly Bill No. 1881 has mandated that cities and counties adopt an ordinance addressing water efficient landscape design. The purpose of the ordinance codified in this chapter is to encourage the design and construction of water efficient landscaping while maintaining consistency with Assembly Bill No. 1881.

The objective of the ordinance codified in this chapter is the following:

Encourage the installation of water efficient landscaping.

B.

Establish what projects are subject to the ordinance codified in this chapter.

C.

Provide reference to where water efficient landscape guidelines can be found.

This chapter is applicable to all new construction and landscape additions. All new construction will be encouraged to review the model water efficient landscape ordinance as written by the state of California for reference, a copy can be provided for a fee of eight dollars and twenty-five cents ($8.25). Property owners who would like to install new landscaping or add to their existing landscaping are encouraged to consult with a landscape and irrigation designer to optimize the water efficiency of their landscape design.
