Penalties

§ 245-43 Penalties for offenses.

Any person, firm, company or corporation owning, controlling or managing a use, building, structure or lot on which there has been placed, or there exists anything in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter; and any person, firm, company, or corporation who shall assist in the commission of any violation of this chapter or any conditions imposed by the Planning Board; or who shall build, contrary to the plans or specifications submitted to the Planning Board and certified as complying with this chapter, shall be guilty of an offense and subject to a fine of not more than $1,000. Every such person, firm, company or corporation shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each day such violation, omission, neglect, or refusal shall continue.
Procedure for abatement of violations. In case any building or structure is erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, repaired, converted, or maintained, or any building, structure, or land is used in violation of this chapter or of any provision of this chapter or law or regulation, the Village Board or, with its approval, the Code Enforcement Officer or other proper official, in addition to other remedies, may institute any appropriate action or proceedings to prevent such unlawful erection, construction, or use; to restrain, correct, or abate such violation; to prevent the occupancy of said building, structure, or land; or to prevent any illegal act, conduct, business, or use in or about such premises.
