Pursuant to the authority contained in Act 247 of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania[1] and for the purpose of promoting health, safety, morals and the general welfare, the Borough Council of Freedom Borough is hereby empowered to regulate and restrict the height, number of stories and size of the buildings and other structures, their construction, alteration, extension, repair, maintenance and all facilities and services in or about such buildings and structures, the percentage of lot that may be occupied, the size of yards, courts and other open spaces, the density of population and the location and use of buildings, structures and land for trade, industry, residence or other purposes and may also establish and maintain building lines and setback building lines upon any or all public streets. Following the conditions and procedures set forth in this chapter, the Borough Council of Freedom Borough may enact, amend and repeal the Zoning Ordinance to implement the Comprehensive Plan of the borough and to accomplish any of the purposes stated in Article II of this chapter.
