- PURPOSE
To promote and protect the public health, safety, comfort, convenience, and general welfare of the inhabitants of the Town of Glen Ridge by encouraging the proper use of land and natural resources in accordance with their character, adaptability and suitability for particular purposes; to enhance social and economic stability; to prevent the overcrowding of land and undue congestion of population; provide adequate light, air and reasonable access; facilitate adequate and economical provision of transportation, water, sewers, recreation and other public requirements by establishment herein of standards for physical development, in accordance with the comprehensive plan of the town, and to provide for enforcement of standards. This ordinance also provides for the regulation of the height and land coverage of buildings; the size of lots, yards, courts, and open spaces; provides for the division of the town into districts and the establishment of boundaries thereof; for changes in the regulations, restrictions and boundaries of such districts; defining certain terms herein; providing for administration and enforcement; penalties for violation; and for the establishment of a zoning board of adjustments and appeals.
