Whenever the Building Inspector and/or other person or persons designated by the Board of Trustees of the Village is satisfied that any building or structure or any portion thereof permitted or forbidden is being erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, repaired, converted or maintained or any building, structure or land is used in violation of or not in compliance with any of the provisions or requirements of this chapter, he may, in his discretion, in addition to other remedies, institute through the Attorney for the Village any appropriate action or proceeding at law or in equity to prevent such unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, conversion, maintenance or use; to prevent, restrain or abate such violation; to prevent the occupancy or use of said building, structure or land; or to prevent any illegal act, conduct, business or use in or about such premises.
