CHAPTER 4

ZONING DISTRICTS AND MAPS

8-4-1: DISTRICTS ESTABLISHED:

In order to classify, regulate and restrict the location of uses of land areas and the location of buildings designed for specific uses; to regulate and limit the height and bulk of buildings hereafter erected or altered; to regulate and limit the intensity of the use of lot areas; and to regulate and determine the area of yards and other open spaces within and surrounding such buildings, all land lying within the limits of the Village is hereby divided into the following districts, listed in order from the highest class to the lowest class: (Ord. 60-08, 4-27-1960)

Suburban Residence: Single-Family Residence, 5 Acres
SR-2
Suburban Residence: Single-Family Residence, 2 Acres
SR-1.5
Suburban Residence: Single-Family Residence, 1.5 Acres Average
SR-1
Suburban Residence: Single-Family Residence, 1 Acre
SR-1A
Suburban Residence: Single-Family Residence, 1 Acre

8-4-2: ZONING MAPS:

The maps designated as the "official zoning maps" classifying the area within the Village, and the "extraterritorial zoning map of Green Oaks, Lake County, Illinois" classifying the entire peripheral area of the Village lying within its jurisdiction, in their current form, are made a part hereof by reference, and all notations, references and other data shown thereon shall be as much a part of this title as if the same were all fully set forth and described herein. Said maps shall be and remain on file in the Office of the Village Clerk. (Ord. 60-08, 4-27-1960; amd. Ord. 65-06, 10-23-1965; Ord. 76-02, 6-23-1976; 1988 Code)

8-4-3: UNCLASSIFIED AND ANNEXED TERRITORY:

Any land whose classification is not shown on said map and land hereafter annexed to the Village shall be automatically classified as in the SR-2 District until differently classified by amendment. (Ord. 60-08, 4-27-1960; amd. Ord. 65-06, 10-23-1965)
