ZONING DISTRICTS

6-5-1: ESTABLISHMENT OF DISTRICTS:

In order to carry out the purposes and provisions of this chapter, the village of Hampshire is hereby divided into the following districts:

6-5-2: MAP:

   A.   The location and boundaries of the districts established by this chapter are set forth on the zoning district map, dated November 6, 1980, which is incorporated herein and hereby made a part of this chapter.
   B.   The said map, together with everything shown thereon, and all amendments thereto, shall be as much a part of this chapter as though fully set forth and described herein.
   C.   The said map shall be filed with the office of the zoning administrator, and shall be open to public reference at all times during which said office is open. (1985 Code)

6-5-3: BOUNDARIES OF DISTRICTS:

When uncertainty exists with respect to the boundaries of the various districts, as shown on the zoning district map, the following rules shall apply:
   A.   District boundary lines are either the center lines of railroads, highways, streets, alleys or easements, tract or lot lines or such lines extended, unless otherwise indicated.
   B.   In areas not subdivided into lots or blocks, wherever a district is indicated as a strip adjacent to and paralleling a street, highway, or railroad, the depth of such strips shall be in accordance with dimensions shown on maps measured at right angles from the center line of the street, highway or railroad, and the length of frontage shall be in accordance with dimensions shown on the map from center lines of streets, highways, or railroad rights of way unless otherwise indicated.
   C.   Where a district boundary line divides a lot in single ownership, the regulations for either portion of the lot may, in the owner's discretion, extend to the entire lot, but not more than twenty five feet (25') beyond the boundary of the district. (1985 Code)

6-5-4: ANNEXED TERRITORY:

Any additions to the incorporated area of the Village resulting from disconnection by the County or otherwise shall be automatically classified among the E-1 Estate Districts until otherwise classified by amendment, or unless an agreement in writing is entered into between the corporate authorities and the owners of record in any territory which may be annexed to this Municipality in accordance with the provisions of 65 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/11-15.1 as amended. 6-5-5: EXEMPTIONS FOR PUBLIC UTILITY USES:

   A.   The following public utility uses are permitted in any district: poles, towers, wires, cables, conduits, vaults, laterals, pipes, mains, valves, or any other similar distributing equipment.
   B.   Outdoor coin telephones and booths are permitted in business and manufacturing districts only, provided that installation shall conform with rules and regulations of the applicable administrative authorities. (1985 Code)
