ARTICLE II

DRUG-FREE ZONES

Sec. 115-19. - Definitions.

The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

Drug-free zone means an area inclusive of any property used for school purposes by any school, within 1,000 feet of any such property, and school buses.

School means any public or private elementary, secondary or vocational technical school in the parish.

School property means all property used for school purposes, including, but not limited to, school playgrounds.

Sec. 115-20. - Creation; establishment.

Drug-free zones are hereby established in an area inclusive of any property used for school purposes by any school in rural Iberia Parish, within 1,000 feet of any such property, and school buses, all in accordance with R.S. 17:405. Said drug-free zones are hereby created and established for the existing 19 public schools, two private schools and one vocational-technical assistance school currently located in rural Iberia Parish, the boundaries of which are clearly indicated on a map entitled "Iberia Parish Drug Free Zones," which map shall be recorded with the parish clerk of court and made part of the official records of the parish.

Sec. 115-21. - Posting of signs or other markings.

Signs or other markings designating the established drug-free zones shall be located in a visible manner on or near each school and in each school bus indicating that such area is a drug-free zone, that such zone extends to 1,000 feet of school property, and that a felony violation of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Law will subject the offender to severe penalties under law, all in accordance with R.S. 40:931.3.

Sec. 115-46. - Definitions.

For the purpose of the sections included in this article, the term "drug-free zone" shall mean an area inclusive of any property used as a parish-owned and/or -operated recreation area and within 1,000 feet of any such property. For the purpose of this article only, the term "drug-free zones" shall also apply only to drugs and other illegal substances, with the exception of alcohol.

Sec. 115-47. - Creation; establishment.

Drug-free zones are hereby established in an area inclusive of any property used for parish-owned and/or -operated recreational areas and within 1,000 feet of any such property. Said drug-free zones are hereby created and established for all existing and future parish-owned and/or -operated recreation areas, the boundaries of which are clearly indicated on a map entitled "Iberia Parish Drug Free Zones - Recreation Areas," which map shall be recorded with the parish clerk of court and made a part of the official records of the parish.
