Applicability and Authority. The City is authorized by the North Carolina General Statutes (“NCGS”) to exercise broad powers in the regulation of zoning, planning,
subdivision of land, and building. Through this
UDO, the City intends to use all powers provided by virtue of Article 2, Chapter 160D-201,
Planning and Development Regulation Jurisdiction.

Corporate Limits. The powers granted by NCGS Chapter 160D may be exercised by the City within its corporate limits.
(2)
Extraterritorial Jurisdiction. The City may also exercise its powers within an extraterritorial jurisdiction, which extends two miles beyond the corporate limits.
