ARTICLE I

- GENERAL PROVISIONS

§ 153.001 - SHORT TITLE.

This chapter shall be called the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Kirby.

§ 153.002 - PURPOSE.

The purpose of this chapter is to create a healthy, safe, and harmonious community for those who choose to live or work in the city. With this chapter, the City Council intends to implement the comprehensive plan of the city and promote the following goals:

(A)

Lessen congestion in the streets;

(B)

Secure safety from fire, panic, and other dangers;

(C)

Promote health and general welfare;

(D)

Provide adequate light and air;

(E)

Prevent the overcrowding of land;

(F)

Avoid undue concentration of population; and

(G)

Facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewerage, schools, parks, and other public requirements.

§ 153.003 - COMPOSITION.

This chapter is comprised of regulations, regulations and statutes incorporated by reference, procedures, and the zoning map.

§ 153.004 - AUTHORIZATIONS.

This chapter is authorized by Tex. Loc. Gov't Code, Ch. 211 and the Home Rule Charter of the city.

§ 153.005 - COMPLIANCE WITH ZONING CODE.

All uses and structures on real property in the city must be in compliance with this chapter unless otherwise provided.

§ 153.006 - MINIMUM STANDARDS.

All standards are minimum, unless otherwise provided. In the event of a conflict with other regulations, the more restrictive regulations apply.
