ARTICLE VI
Signs 1
§ 129-52 Allowable signs.
A nameplate or sign may be erected for the following purposes and for no other:
A.
One professional nameplate per dwelling, which sign shall not exceed 144 square inches in area.
B.
One nameplate per property bearing the name of the resident owner or tenant, which sign shall not exceed 144 square inches in area.
C.
Real estate signs.

One temporary real estate sign per property announcing only that the property upon which the sign is maintained is offered for sale or leasing and a telephone number at which the broker or owner may be contacted. The sign shall not exceed four square feet in area, shall be set back at least 10 feet from street or lot lines and shall be removed within three days after the sale or rental of such property. Placing the name or logo of the selling agent on the sign is specifically prohibited.

The permit issued under § 129-53 hereof shall be issued for a period of three months with a right to renew the same upon the property owner's reapplication for a second three-month period. After the expiration of the second three-month period, no further renewal permits for any such sign shall be granted for a period of one year from the expiration of the second three-month period unless a variance is granted to the property owner for maintenance of the sign for a longer period by the Board of Zoning Appeals pursuant to Article XII hereof.
D.
Subject to the approval of the Village Board of Trustees, a noncommercial directional sign or marker, when proposed to be erected by a public agency or a similar sign in a park or reservation, provided that such sign shall not exceed 12 square feet in area and municipal signs necessary to the public welfare of the Village.
E.
Official notices displayed at or under the direction of a public or court officer in the performance of his official duties, provided that such notices shall be removed not later than one week after their purpose is accomplished.
§ 129-53 Permit required.
§ 129-54 Structural and maintenance requirements.
All nameplates and signs shall be properly secured, supported and braced and shall be maintained clean, well painted and in sound structural condition. When any nameplate or sign ceases to be so maintained, the Building Inspector shall terminate the permit and require or cause such sign to be removed at the expense of the person maintaining the same. Upon any change in the ownership or occupancy of the premises on which a nameplate or sign is erected, the permit therefor shall terminate.
