Apartments
17.71.010 Guest apartment defined.
“Guest apartment” means a structure whose original purpose was that of a multiple-household dwelling unit of two or more household units such as a two-household dwelling, triplex, four-plex or other apartment-type complex and currently rented on a short-term basis (less than thirty days). (Ord. 19-13 § 21 (part), 2019; Ord. 91-08 (part), 1991)
17.71.020 Existing guest apartments in R-3 and R-4 zones.
This chapter shall not apply to multiple-household dwellings of apartment houses that have converted to guest apartments in the R-3 and R-4 zones and have a current business license prior to the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter. 17.71.030 Guest apartments and short-term boarding houses not a permitted use.
No license shall be issued for guest apartments, and the future conversion of apartments to guest apartments shall not be a permitted use in any residential zone. Short-term boarding and rooming houses shall not be a permitted use in residential zones. (Ord. 91-08 (part), 1991)
17.71.040 Enforcement.
All violations of this chapter are classified as Class B Misdemeanors, punishable by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Each day of violation or noncompliance shall constitute a separate offense and may be prosecuted accordingly. (Ord. 91-08 (part), 1991)
