The purpose of this chapter is to promote, protect and facilitate the public health, safety, morals and general welfare of the Township generally, in accordance with the Township's officially adopted Comprehensive Plan entitled "Springfield Township Comprehensive Plan," dated 1968, and to preserve and protect the existing community character and property values and to promote economic development and aesthetic character by:
A. Securing public safety from fire, panic, flood and other related dangers.
B. Providing for adequate light and air.
C. Facilitating the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewerage, schools, public grounds, parking and unloading space and other public requirements.
D. Preventing the overcrowding of land by providing for proper density of population.
E. Avoiding danger and congestion in travel and transportation.
F. Giving reasonable consideration, among other things, to the character of the Township as a whole and of each district and its particular suitability for particular uses and structures.
G. Preserving the natural amenities of the Township, including but not limited to stream valleys, floodplains, wooded areas, shade trees, steep slopes and open space.
H. Coordinating with surrounding communities in coping with problems which transcend municipal boundaries.
I. Giving effect to the policies, proposals and overall programs of the Comprehensive Plan for Springfield Township.
J. Protecting and enhancing the existing character of the Township by promoting attractive design and the incorporation of existing natural features into new development.
