1-1.1 Enactment. Pursuant to the authority conferred by HB 51 amending title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated [O.C.G.A.] to include chapter 66, "The Zoning Procedures Law" and for several purposes of promoting the health, safety, aesthetics, convenience, order, prosperity and the general welfare of the present and future inhabitants of the City of Stone Mountain, Georgia; of improving the city's appearance; lessening congestion in the streets; furthering traffic safety, securing safety from fire, panic and other dangers; providing adequate light and air; preventing the overcrowding of land, avoiding both undue concentration of population and urban sprawl; facilitating the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewer, schools, parks and other public requirements; protecting property against blight and depreciation; encouraging the most appropriate use of land, buildings, and other structures through out the city; securing economy in government expenditures; and for other purposes, all in accordance with a land use plan for the development of the city, the mayor and city council of the city, hereby ordains and enacts into law the following articles and sections of the zoning ordinance of the city, and the official zoning map for the city, with all explanatory matter thereon, is hereby made part of this ordinance, said map being certified and on file in the office of the city clerk where said zoning map shall be available for public display. The official zoning map shall have marked upon it the following: "Official Zoning Map of the City of Stone Mountain." The official zoning map shall be signed by the city clerk and shall include the date of its adoption.
1-1.2 Short title. This ordinance shall be known and may be cited as "Stone Mountain Zoning Ordinance," or "zoning ordinance."
1-1.3 Jurisdiction. These regulations shall govern the use of all land and the developments and redevelopments thereof within the incorporated areas of the city.
