The owner or agent of a building or property in or upon which a violation of any of the provisions of this chapter (Chapter 49) has been committed or exists, or the lessee or tenant of an entire building or entire property in or upon which such violation has been committed or exists, or the agent, architect, building contractor or any other person who commits, takes part or assists in any violation or who maintains any building or property in or upon which such violation shall exist, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) for each and every day that such violation continues or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding four (4) months for each and every day such violation continues, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
