The lawful use of a building or premises existing on September 17, 1928, (the date of the adoption of the original zoning ordinance of the village) may be continued, although such use does not conform with the provisions hereof, and such use may be extended throughout the building or premises lawfully acquired previous to said date. 9-6-2: CHANGE OF NONCONFORMING USE OR DISTRICT:
A nonconforming use may be changed to a use of the same or higher classification according to the provisions of this title, and whenever a district shall hereafter be changed, any then existing nonconforming use in such changed district may be continued or changed to a use of similar or higher classification, provided all other regulations governing the new use are complied with. 9-6-3: DISCONTINUANCE OF NONCONFORMING USE OR CHANGE TO CONFORMING USE:
Whenever a nonconforming use of the building has been discontinued for six (6) consecutive months or changed to a higher classification or to a conforming use, such use shall not thereafter be changed to a use of a lower classification. (Ord., 4-22-1943; amd. Ord. 03-05, 9-8-2003)
9-6-4: RESTORATION OF DAMAGED BUILDINGS:
No building which has been damaged by fire or other causes to the extent of more than fifty percent (50%) of its value shall be repaired or rebuilt except in conformity with the regulations of this title, except that it may be reconstructed on its former foundation. 9-6-1: CONTINUANCE OF NONCONFORMING USE:
