Sign. Any device, fixture, placard, or structure, including its component parts, which draws attention to an object, product, place, activity, opinion, person, institution, organization, or place of business, or which identifies or promotes the interests of any person and which can be viewed from any public street, road, highway, right-of-way, parking area or public space.

Nonconforming sign. A sign which existed as a legal sign prior to the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter which is in conflict with the provisions of this chapter.

Triangle pennant sign. A triangle-shaped piece of plastic or cloth material connected to a cord including a single color or multiple colors that repeat for the length of the cord, and is used to draw attention to businesses such as vehicle sales lots.

Valet sign. A moveable support structure which contains a single support element or post used to display signage not permanently affixed to the ground.
