The following zoning districts are established. For the interpretation of this Title 17, the zoning districts have been formulated to realize the general purposes as set forth in this Title 17. In addition, the specific purpose of each zoning district shall be as stated.

A.

Agricultural (A) District. The purpose of the A district is to preserve and protect the decreasing supply of prime agricultural land.

B.

Residential (R) District. The purpose of the R district is to permit the establishment of residential dwellings. Centralized water and sewer facilities are encouraged in the R district in accordance with the comprehensive plan.

C.

Commercial (C) District. The purpose of the C district is to accommodate and encourage further expansion and renewal in the historical core business area of the community.

D.

Commercial and Industrial (CI) District. The purpose of the CI district is to encourage the development of manufacturing, retail and wholesale business establishments.

E.

Public (P) District. The purpose of the P district is to preserve and protect public land and public improvements.
