CHAPTER 18

34 - RAILROAD SUPPORT DISTRICT

18.34.010 - Intent.

The Railroad Support District is intended to be applied to areas adjacent to or near railroad tracks in the town which may be used to support railroad operations. The Railroad Support District is not intended to restrict the use of property in connection with the interstate rail network or rail transportation in general, as those terms are defined under federal law, or to otherwise conflict with federal law regulating the same.

18.34.020 - Permitted uses.

Permitted uses in the Railroad Support District shall be as follows:

Functions related to the operation of the interstate rail network or rail transportation as regulated by federal law.

18.34.030 - Special uses.

Special uses in the Railroad Support District shall be as follows:

A.

Temporary structures, being those structures which will be in place for six months or less.

B.

Functions related to tourist excursion railroad operations that provide a direct service or benefit to tourist excursion railroad users and/or operators.

C.

Limited capacity restaurant.

D.

Retail.

E.

Meeting hall (religious, civic).

F.

Warehouse.

G.

Self storage.

H.

Museum.

I.

Studio.

J.

Professional office.

K.

Park.

18.34.040 - Building height.

No structure shall exceed thirty-five feet in height.

18.34.050 - Lot area.

The minimum lot area shall be seven thousand square feet.

18.34.060 - Setback.

Setback shall be fifteen feet from the nearest rail, except in cases where close proximity is required for railroad operators i.e. platform structures, warehouse building access, locomotive servicing structures.

18.34.070 - Signs.

Signs in the Railroad Support District shall be governed by provisions of Section 18.060.300 of this code.
