- AUTHORITY AND PURPOSE
The zoning bylaw is adopted under chapter 40A of the general laws (the Zoning Act) as amended.
The purposes of this bylaw are to promote the general welfare of the town, to protect the health of its inhabitants, to encourage the most appropriate use of land within the town, to increase the amenities of the town, and to provide an adequate supply of light and air and reduce the hazard from fire by regulating the location, use, and height of buildings and the area of open spaces about them.
