ARTICLE 2

- PURPOSE OF ORDINANCE

2-100.- [Statement of purpose.]

The regulations and provisions of this Nassau Bay Zoning Ordinance shall be the minimum requirements adopted for protecting and promoting public health, safety, comfort, convenience, order, appearance, prosperity, or general welfare; for lessening congestion in the streets or roads or reducing the waste of excessive amounts of roads; for reducing flood hazard; for securing safety from fire and other dangers, providing adequate light and air, and preventing, on the other hand, excessive concentration of population; for promoting such classification of land uses and distribution of land development and utilization as will tend to facilitate adequate provisions for public requirements, transportation, water flowage, water supply, drainage, sanitation, educational opportunities, recreation; for preserving floodways; for protecting property values, securing economy in governmental expenditures; protecting urban developments; all to be consistent with the comprehensive land use plan. Whenever the regulations and requirements of this ordinance are in variance with the requirements of any other lawfully enacted and adopted rules, regulations, ordinances, or laws, the most restrictive shall apply.
