ARTICLE VI

- PENALTY

Sec. 144-6.1. - General.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined a sum not more than $2,000.00; each day such violation continues shall constitute a separate offense.

Sec. 144-6.2. - Minimum fine.

The minimum fine for a violation of the provisions of this chapter related to rental for less than one month and occupancy of a dwelling unit in a one- or two-family dwelling by more than five unrelated persons or not living as a single household unit shall be $500.00.

Sec. 144-6.3. - Court action or proceedings.

In case any building or structure is erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, repaired, converted or maintained, or any building, structure or land is used, in violation of the general law or of the terms of this chapter, the city, in addition to imposing the penalty above provided, may institute any appropriate action or proceedings in court to prevent such unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, conversion, maintenance or use, to restrain, correct or abate such violation, or to prevent the occupancy of such building, structure or land, to prevent the illegal act, conduct, business or use, in or about such land, and the definition of any violation of the terms of this chapter as a misdemeanor shall not preclude the city from invoking the civil remedies given it by law in such cases, but same shall be cumulative of and in addition to the penalties prescribed for such violation.
