FLOOD HAZARD DISTRICT, FH
It is the intent of this district that intensive commercial, residential or industrial development of lands subject to periodic flooding be prohibited in order that costs to the general public for flood control and disaster relief will be reduced. The FH district, as outlined on the official zoning map, includes the 100-year floodplain. It is intended that as additional information becomes available from the Federal Insurance Administration, the "floodway" and the "flood fringe" will also be described, and regulations established for each within this article. The FH district is intended to comply with requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program.

The following shall be permitted uses in a FH district:
1.
Botanical gardens.
2.
Farm buildings.
3.
Farms, including livestock and poultry raising, dairying, horticulture and other similar bona fide agricultural endeavors or use of land.
4.
Greenhouses and nurseries, both wholesale and retail.
5.
Horse stables and riding schools/academies.
6.
Public parks and outdoor recreational facilities.
7.
[Reserved.]
8.
Roadside stands for the sale of seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Residences.

The following shall be special uses permitted after approval of the planning commission and county commission:
1.
Private recreational facilities, such as:
a.
Archery clubs.
b.
Fishing lakes.
c.
Golf courses.
d.
Marinas, boathouses, boat shelters.
e.
Swimming pools.
f.
Tennis courts.
g.
All commercial communication towers.

The following uses shall be specifically prohibited in a FH district:
1.
Outside storage of goods or materials which in time of flooding are buoyant and can become injurious to public health, safety or welfare.
2.
Warehouses, truck terminals.

The following design standards shall apply in a FH district:
All structures in a FH zone shall conform to the design standards of the zoning district in which it applies.
