Applications for zoning permits should be made to the Zoning Officer in the Pottstown Codes Department. Applications must be signed by the property owner, lessee, or authorized agent.
In the case of new structures or additions, the applicant must submit a plan, also known as a plat, for the Borough's review and approval. The plat must conform to the specifications in the Pottstown Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance [Chapter 22], Section 400.
No building shall be occupied or used until a Certificate of Occupancy is issued by the Zoning Officer. Certificates will only be issued after the Zoning Officer determines the building is sound and meets the provisions of this Chapter.
Permits will be valid for six months after they are issued, although the Zoning Officer may grant extensions of up to 90 days each. The permit will expire if the authorized work is suspended or abandoned for a period of six months after it begins.
The Zoning Officer may revoke a zoning permit in the case of any false statement or misrepresentation in either the application or the plans on which the zoning permit is based. If a zoning permit is revoked, any other permits issued on the strength of the zoning permit shall automatically become invalid.
