Appurtenant structures. All appurtenant structures to large-scale, medium-scale, and on-site ground-mounted solar photovoltaic installations shall be sited on the property in the manner and location approved by the Planning Board during the site plan review process based on consideration of the following criteria: safety, access, buffering from abutting properties, minimal site disturbance, the bulk and height of structures, lot area, setbacks, open space, parking and building coverage requirements. All such appurtenant structures, including but not limited to, equipment shelters, storage facilities, transformers, and substations and on-site battery storage, shall be architecturally compatible with each other to the extent feasible. Whenever reasonable, structures should be shielded from view by existing vegetation or plantings and/or joined or clustered to avoid adverse visual impacts.
