The tribal trust district is intended to recognize federal tribal trust status of lands within the city of Temecula.

The city exercises no development or zoning control over properties designated as tribal trust lands in the general plan. These properties are under the sole jurisdiction and control of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians.
