Rural Residential District RR
To provide areas for neighborhoods of a rural character for small farms, hobby farms and large lot residential use.
Uses contained in this Chapter flow directly from Chapter 16.30 - Zones and Uses. In the event of a conflict, Chapter 16.30 verbiage is the principal deciding factor. Uses fall into one of four categories, namely Permitted, Permitted with Conditions, Conditional Use, and Prohibited.
A.
AGRICULTURE.
1.
Tilling of the soil, the raising of crops, horticulture, and gardening for personal use.
2.
Animals and fowl for recreational use or family food production for the primary use of persons residing on the premises.
a.
The keeping of animals shall meet all standards set by the local Health Department, State and Federal regulatory agencies.
B.
SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLINGS.
1.
Minimum square feet of home must meet all requirements of the International Residential Building Code.
2.
Accessory uses and buildings customarily incidental to the permitted use.
C.
HOUSEHOLD PETS.
D.
GUEST HOUSE/CASITA.
E.
RESIDENTIAL HOSTING FACILITY (RHF).

The following uses are prohibited:
A.
Short-Term Rentals.
(Amended by Ord. 2024-05 prohibited short-term rentals in rural residential on 3/19/2024)
No buildings may exceed twenty-five feet (25').

The following standards apply to parcels of one acre or more:
A.
Dwellings in the rural residential zone shall not exceed 4,800 square feet of living area, or 15% of the parcel, whichever is greater.
B.
The parcel shall be permitted a single septic tank, which has a maximum capacity of 2,000 gallons.
C.
The parcel shall be permitted no more than a single culinary water connection. No culinary water connection shall be more than 3/4 inch.

A.
SIDE SETBACK. 1-2 On corner lots, any side setback which faces on a street shall not be less than twenty-five feet (25') otherwise the minimum side setback of any accessory building shall not be less than ten feet (10').
B.
REAR SETBACK. All accessory buildings shall have a rear setback of at least ten feet (10').
