Voluntown City Zoning Code

SECTION 13

APPEALS AND VARIANCES.

13.1.
Any person contesting the enforcement of these Regulations, or any person seeking a variance from the literal enforcement of these Regulations because conditions especially affecting a particular parcel of land but not affecting generally the district in which it is situated would result in exceptional difficulty or unusual hardship, may appeal for relief to the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Town of Voluntown.
A.
Such appeal or request for variance shall be made on a form prescribed by the Board and available from the Zoning Enforcement Officer and shall be accompanied by a fee as per Section 3.3 to cover the costs related to the required public hearing following provisions of Section 8-7 of the Connecticut General Statutes. (1/1/90)(7/1/98)
B.
No variance shall be effective until a copy thereof, certified by the Chairman or Secretary of the Zoning Board of Appeals, containing a description of the premises to which it relates and specifying the nature of such variance, including the zoning regulation which is varied in its application, and stating the name of the owner of record, is recorded in the land records of the Town of Voluntown. The Town Clerk shall index the same in the grantor's index under the name of the then record owner and the record owner shall pay for such recording.
