10-1-2: PURPOSE:
The zone boundaries and regulations which apply within each of the zones have been made in accordance with the Rigby Comprehensive Plan which is designed to promote the health, safety, peace, convenience and general welfare of the inhabitants of Rigby and are required:
A. To promote the orderly growth and development of the City;
B. To promote economy in the cost of fire and police protection and other governmental services;
C. To lessen congestion in the streets and reduce the waste of excessive amounts of streets;
D. To protect the tax base;
E. To foster industry;
F. To protect property values;
G. To appropriately distribute population, and prevent the overcrowding of land;
H. To facilitate adequate provisions for transportation, water, sewage, schools and other public requirements; and
I. To provide adequate light and air, and foster a wholesome, serviceable and attractive City. (Ord. 402, 5-5-1987; amd. Ord. 2021-619, 9-14-2021)
10-1-3: DECLARATION:
In establishing the zones, the boundaries thereof, and the regulations applying within each of the zones, due and careful consideration was given among other things to the suitability of land for particular uses with a view to conserving the value of buildings and encouraging the most appropriate use of land throughout the City. 10-1-4: INTERPRETATION AND INTENT:
It is the intent of the Council that the regulations and restrictions as set forth in this title shall be so interpreted and construed as to further the purpose of this title and objectives and characteristics of the respective zones. (Ord. 402, 5-5-1987; amd. Ord. 2021-619, 9-14-2021)
10-1-5: AUTHORITY1:
These zoning regulations are authorized by title 50, chapter 13 and title 67, chapter 65 of the Idaho Code as amended or subsequently codified and article 12, section 2, of the Idaho Constitution.
