CHAPTER 10

4 ZONING ADMINISTRATOR

10-4-1 APPOINTMENT

There is hereby created the office of zoning administrator. Said administrator shall be appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council. He/she shall serve for five (5) year terms at the end of which he/she shall come up for review and possible reappointment. Said administrator is hereby charged with the administration and enforcement of this title and other duties as set forth in SCMC 10-4-2. (Ord. 2005-04, 9-8-2005)

10-4-2 POWERS AND DUTIES

  1. It shall be the duty of the zoning administrator:
    1. To review all applications for building permits and certificates of zoning compliance.
    2. To refuse to issue any permit unless the plans of and for the proposed erection, construction or use fully conform to all regulations in effect within the city.
    3. To implement and enforce the provisions of this title and, wherever violations occur, to consult with the city attorney; to recommend citations to the city council, to post or issue citations forthcoming from said council; to prepare exhibits, testimony and other data which may be needed in such enforcement.
    4. To render administrative decisions on those certain routine and uncontested matters as are delegated to him by the city council, planning and zoning commission, or board of adjustment and pursuant to established guidelines relating thereto.
  2. The zoning administrator shall not have power to override or circumvent decisions and judgments set forth by the planning and zoning commission, board of adjustment, or city council. (Ord. 2005-04, 9-8-2005)
