Provided in this section are the short title and long title of this ordinance.

I.1.1 Short title. This ordinance shall be known and may be cited as the "Zoning Ordinance of the City of Unadilla, Georgia."

I.1.2 Long title. An ordinance of the City of Unadilla, Georgia, to regulate the use of land and buildings by dividing the City of Unadilla into districts; defining certain terms used therein; imposing regulations, prohibitions and restrictions governing the erection, construction, and reconstruction of structures and buildings and the use of lands for business, industry, residence, social, and other specified purposes; regulating and limiting the height of buildings and open spaces, regulating and limiting congestion on the public streets; providing for the gradual elimination of nonconforming uses of land, buildings, and structures; establishing the boundaries of districts; and providing the means of enforcing said ordinance and providing a penalty for violation of said ordinance, and repealing conflicting ordinances.

The mayor and council of the City of Unadilla enact this ordinance under the exercise of powers conferred upon it by the Ga. Const. art. IX, § II, ¶ IV.

Said zoning ordinance is enacted expressly for the purpose of promoting the health, safety, morals, convenience, order, prosperity, and the general welfare of residents within the City of Unadilla.
