1. Purpose. These two Districts are established to govern the locations, intensity, and method of development for commercial activity in the City of West Burlington. While certain other uses are sometimes permitted, the primary focus of these districts will be commercial and service businesses.

A. B-1 LIMITED RETAIL BUSINESS DISTRICT
(1) Purpose. The Limited Retail Business District is intended to govern the location, intensity and method of development in an around the central business district of West Burlington. This district is intended to provide for the grouping together of business establishments which generally serve a local, community market area, with the character, appearance and operations of these being compatible with the existing character of the surrounding residential neighborhoods.
B. B-2 GENERAL BUSINESS DISTRICT
(1) Purpose. This district is intended to govern the location, intensity and method of development for commercial activities - retail, wholesale, or service businesses – which serve a larger, regional market, and do not involve on-site manufacturing, assembling, or fabrication. These regulations are intended to provide for the grouping of businesses that are compatible with one another, and not objectionable to the community as a whole.
