ARTICLE 1
Introduction and General Provisions
19.2-1 Title
This Chapter is known and cited as the "Chesterfield County Zoning Ordinance," the "Zoning Ordinance," "ZOMod", or "this Chapter".
19.2-2 Purpose
This Chapter promotes the purposes authorized by the Virginia zoning enabling legislation and implements the Comprehensive Plan. [Note: see Code of Virginia § 15.2-2283.]
19.2-3 Authority
This Chapter is authorized by:
- Code of Virginia Title 15.2, Chapter 22, and
- Chapter 7 of the County Charter.
19.2-4 Applicability
This Chapter applies to all land and structures in Chesterfield County.
19.2-5 Consistency with Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan establishes Chesterfield County's long-term planning policies and comprises the County's long-range recommendations for the general development of its unincorporated territory. The County finds that this Chapter is consistent with and implements the Comprehensive Plan.
