PLANNING COMMISSION
There is hereby created the City of Crawfordville Planning Commission to consist of three members who shall be appointed by the City Council. The initial members of the Planning Commission shall be appointed to the following terms: One member shall serve a term of one year from their initial appointment; the remaining members shall serve a term of two years after their initial appointment. Thereafter successors to the original members shall serve a term of three years and until their successors are duly appointed. Members may be removed for cause by the Council upon written charges and after a public hearing. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term of any member whose term becomes vacant.
The Planning Commission shall adopt rules for the transaction of business and shall keep a record of its resolutions, transactions, findings, determinations, and recommendations, which shall be a public record.
The duties of the Planning Commission shall include:
1.
Recommend to the City Council, the approval or disapproval of all requests for zoning map amendments, and zoning text amendments;
2.
Hold the required public hearing on zoning map and text amendments;
3.
Hear and decide applications for conditional use permits;
4.
Hear and decide applications for exemption from age requirements for mobile and manufactured homes;
5.
Hear and decide appeals from decisions of the Land Development Officer;
6.
Hear and decide applications for variances from the dimensional requirements of this chapter [appendix];
7.
Review and recommend to the City Council revisions to the Comprehensive Plan;
8.
Conduct such other business and affairs as may be from time to time designated by the City Council.
