ARTICLE I

General Provisions

§ 100-1 Title.

The title of this chapter is the "Zoning Law of the Village of Dannemora," and shall include this text and the Official Zoning Map.[1]

§ 100-2 Purpose.

The purposes of this chapter are to provide for orderly growth and change within the Village of Dannemora; and to provide for the health, safety and general welfare of existing and future residents.

§ 100-3 Zoning permits.

A zoning permit shall be required for any of the following:
A. 
Construction of a new building or structure exceeding 100 square feet in area.
B. 
Enlargement of an existing building or structure.
C. 
Change in the use of a building or of land.
D. 
New permanent signs over three square feet in area.

§ 100-4 Conflict with other regulations.

Whenever the requirements of this chapter are at variance with the requirements of any lawfully adopted rules, regulations or ordinances, the most restrictive or those imposing the higher standards shall govern.

§ 100-5 Fees.

Permit fees shall be collected and paid according to the fee structure in effect at the time of application. A fee schedule is available at the Village Clerk's office.

§ 100-6 Penalties for offenses.

Any person, firm or corporation who violates, disobeys, neglects or refuses to comply with any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of an offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be subject to a fine of not more than $250 or imprisonment for a period of not more than six months, or both. Each week a violation is continued shall be deemed a separate offense.

§ 100-7 Restraint by injunction.

The Village may obtain an action to restrain by injunction any violation of this chapter or any failure to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter.

§ 100-8 Stop-work orders.

Any buildings or structure erected or any use conducted without a zoning permit or certificate of conformity, where required, or not in conformity with provisions of this chapter may be removed, closed or halted at once by the Zoning Enforcement Officer with the issuance of a stop order, with the assistance, if deemed necessary, of any appropriate Village officer or employee.
