CHAPTER 17

28. - GENERAL BUSINESS DISTRICTS

17.28.010. - General business districts.

Within all general business districts, the following provisions shall apply:

A.

Uses permitted: Any use permitted in a local business zone; places of amusement and assembly; auto repair shops and other motor vehicular services; any retail or wholesale business or service not prohibited or specifically restricted; manufacturing, not specifically restricted, or prohibited, incidental to a retail business where articles are sold at retail on the premises and where not more than five operatives are employed in such manufacturing. Services and supplies incidental to oil field operations;

B.

Uses prohibited: Manufacture or refining of ammonia, bleaching powder, chlorine, asphalt, brick, terra cotta, tile or pottery (except in handicrafts), cement, gypsum, lime, plaster of paris, coke, creosote, dextrin, glucose, starch, dye, explosives, or fireworks or storage in excess of 500 pounds, fertilizer, gas (fuel or illuminating) in excess of 1,000 cubic feet per day or storage in excess of 10,000 cubic feet, except in a municipal or public service plant, gelatin or glue or size from fish or animal refuse or offal, hair, hydrochloric, nitric, picric, sulfuric or sulphurous acid, lamp black, linoleum or oilcloth, match, pyroxylin or articles thereof or storage in excess of 500 pounds, rubber, or treatment thereof involving offensive odor, tar, turpentine, or varnish; blast furnace; coal, junk or wood yard; distillation of bones, coal, wood, or tar, or manufacture of any of their products, drop forge; fat, grease, lard or tallow manufacture, refining or rendering, flour or gristmill; hot rolling mill; incineration, reduction or dumping of dead animals, garbage, offal or refuse except by the Town or its agents or when accumulated and consumed on the same premises without the emission of odor; sawmill; petroleum or other inflammable liquids—production or refining or storage above ground in excess of 1,000 gallons; slaughtering or stockyards; tanning, curing or storage of raw hides or skins; tire recapping; any other use detrimental to a neighborhood because of odor, smoke, dust, fumes, fire, vibration, or hazardous because of danger of fire or explosion;

C.

Building height permitted: Unlimited for business uses. For dwellings, not more than two and one-half stories or 35 feet;

D.

Front yard depth required: None for business uses. For dwellings, 25 feet;

E.

Side yard width required: None for business uses. For dwellings, same as residence B districts;

F.

Rear yard depth required: None for business uses. For dwellings, same as residence B districts;

G.

Lot width required: None for business uses. For dwellings, same as residence B districts;

H.

Lot area required: For dwellings, same as residence B districts. For business and industrial uses, it is the intent of this title that lots of sufficient size be used to provide adequate parking and loading and unloading space required for the normal operations of the enterprise;
