Navasota City Zoning Code

ARTICLE III

NEWLY ANNEXED TERRITORY

§ 3.1 ANNEXED TERRITORY-TEMPORARY CLASSIFICATION.

All territory hereafter annexed to the City of Navasota, unless otherwise classified in the annexation ordinance, shall be temporarily classified as A/O (Agricultural/Open Space District) until permanent zoning is established by the City Council. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommends that all property be classified at the time of annexation. The procedure for establishing permanent classification of annexed territory shall conform to the procedure established by law for the adoption of the original zoning regulations.
In an area temporarily classified as A/O, no person shall erect, construct, add to, or expand any building, structure, or use, without first applying for and obtaining a Building Permit or Certificate of Occupancy from the Building Official.
No permit for the construction of a building, structure, or use of land shall be issued by the Building Official other than a permit which will allow the construction of a building permitted in the A/O (Agricultural/Open Space) unless such land has been classified in a zone other than A/O (Agricultural/Open Space) by the City Council in the manner provided for herein.
