ARTICLE XX

COASTAL ZONE AREAS

Sec. 102-152.- Applicability; legislative authority.

The entire City of Belleair Bluffs is included in the definition of "coastal zone" under the State of Florida designation; however, only a small portion of the city would be defined as being in the coastal zone protection area. Section 161.53 et seq. of the Florida Statutes, cited as the Coastal Zone Protection Act of 1985, defines and delineates the coastal zone protection regulations and will govern the development, use and protection for the designated protected zone. Section 161.55 of the Florida Statutes, together with the Florida Building Code, establishes minimum building standards for construction in the designated protection zone.

Sec. 102-153. - Mangrove protection.

Florida Statutes will govern mangrove areas located within the City of Belleair Bluffs.

Sec. 102-154. - Dredge and fill activities; wetlands.

Florida Statutes will define the rules and regulations pertaining to wetlands and endangered fill activities and will govern these areas located within Belleair Bluffs.

Sec. 102-155. - Coastal development.

Any development within the coastal zone of the City of Belleair Bluffs shall be governed by the Pinellas Aquatic Preserve Management Plan in order to protect and enhance the water quality of Clearwater Harbor.
