Nothing herein shall apply to any public utility, as defined in the act entitled "An Act Concerning Public Utilities,"[1] to create a Board of Public Utility Commissioners and to prescribe its duties and powers and the amendments thereto and supplements thereto, nor to any employee when engaged in the performance of his functions necessary in rendering service to customers.
